Urgent Referrals
Please contact Dr. Lee directly or via the St. Andrews Hospital switchboard (07 3834 4444). Dr. Lee is happy to discuss any urgent matters prior to the referral and a prioritized appointment can be organized. In the event of an emergency, the patient will be requested to attend the St. Andrews Emergency Department for initial management.
Regional and Outer Metropolitan Referrals
Whilst patients understandingly prefer to have their care close to home, travelling for specialist care may sometimes be required. Dr. Lee, together with his colleagues from other specialties at St. Andrew’s Hospital have a vast experience in looking after patients from across greater Queensland and Northern NSW. We understand the time and distances involved and aim to manage patients thoroughly and expertly in a concise fashion to minimize time away from home. Telehealth consultation is often used as the first consultation prior to the patient travelling to Brisbane for further assessment and management.
Open Access Endoscopy
In certain clinical situations, patients can be referred directly for an endoscopy and/or colonoscopy without the need for consultation. Referral for an open access colonoscopy for a healthy patient in their 50s with a positive FOBT would be a prime example.
Should you wish for your patient to undergo endoscopy and/or colonoscopy without consultation prior, please use the referral form for open endoscopy below or indicate with the term “open access” on your referral.
Patients will have their procedure discussed with them via telephone with either Dr. Lee or the practice nurse before the procedure to ensure patient is suitable to proceed directly with the procedure. Occasionally, a patient will be reviewed in the clinic to ensure a management strategy is in place prior to their procedure and to address any peri-procedural medication needs.
